Progress in pancreatic cancer research and patient care through Put Your Foot Down walks

The money raised from Put Your Foot Down walks directly supports PanKind’s mission to triple the pancreatic cancer survival rate by 2030 and dramatically improve outcomes for people impacted by the disease.

Why are the funds you raise so important?

Because 68 Australians die from pancreatic cancer every week, and 12 people will be diagnosed every day.

This year, almost as many people will die from pancreatic cancer as breast cancer. But if you are diagnosed with breast cancer, the outlook is much more positive and your chances of survival are over 90%. If you are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, there is only a 12.2% chance you’ll be alive in 5 years.

Early-stage pancreatic cancer rarely causes symptoms. More than 80% of pancreatic cancers are found once they have spread to other organs, making surgery impossible.

These statistics are devastating – and they have barely changed in 40 years due to a lack in government funding.

But the funds you raise WILL save lives.

By taking part in Put Your Foot Down walks and raising funds, you’ll help fund research to increase the survival rate for pancreatic cancer patients.

PanKind’s focus is to fund early detection, optimise current treatments and identify new treatments. Nothing will make as great an impact on survival as diagnosing people with pancreatic cancer earlier.

Join a walk and start fundraising today to help save lives.
